Nancy Cornell Obituary
Nancy M. Cornell, 81, of Blackstone; loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 in HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.
Born in Milford, MA, Nancy was the daughter of the late William and Grace (Connolly) Broderick. She grew up in Milford, MA and graduated from Milford High School. She later attended trade school in Worcester, MA, where she studied cosmetology. Nancy worked as a stylist at several area salons including Vasils in Milford, where she made many life long friends.
A lover of music and singing, Nancy blessed many with her vocal talents as she performed in parish choir, folk group and as a soloist at St. Mary's Parish in Milford and at St. Paul's Church in Blackstone. She also performed in several productions with Theater Works of Woonsocket, RI.
Nancy was a very talented free hand modern tole painter and she gifted her family and friends with many well loved works of art.
An avid Patriots fan, Nancy never missed a game. She had a true dedication to her home team with the Red Sox coming in a close second.
Nancy was very proud of her Irish roots and was well known for her Irish wit, humor and sarcasm. Her infectious laugh, her love of life and her generous spirit will be missed greatly.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Donald Cornell of Blackstone, MA, her children; Colleen Heilani of Woonsocket, RI, Erin Lemoine of Cumberland, RI, Mark Cornell of Floral City, FL, Shannon Wellington of Danielson, CT, her siblings; Hazel Teagan of Oak Bluffs, MA, William Broderick of Sedona, AZ, eight granchildren; Meghan Niro, Kelly Lemoine, Sean Lemoine, Catherine Lemoine, Gregory Wellington, Samantha Wellington, Liam Iovino and Aowyn Cornell and four great-grandchilden; Nicholas, Jameson, Olivia and Vivianne.
The family would like to express it's sincere gratitude to Hopehealth Hulitar Hospice Center and it's staff for providing Nancy with the most loving care and dignity in her final days. They would also like to thank the staff at Countryside Healthcare, in Milford, MA. Nancy was always touched by their outpouring of love and support for her during her many visits there.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 beginning with visitation at 10AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 48 St. Paul's St., Blackstone. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Health Care of Milford, 1 Countryside Dr., Milford, Ma.
