Charles "Pat" Cornell

Charles Patrick Cornell, known as Pat, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 88. Pat was born on December 15, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Charles Cornell and Anne (Zinger) Cornell.

Pat grew up in Southfield and graduated from Southfield High School. He was an avid car enthusiast and golfer. In 1956, he met his future wife, MaryRose Beyer of Detroit. They were married in 1961 and were married for 64 years, until his passing.

While Pat enjoyed spending time with friends at car shows including the Dream Cruise and Frankenmuth Auto Fest, Pat's main legacy was the love he showed his family and his faith and trust in God. Pat worked tirelessly to provide for his family and actively participated in their lives helping with schoolwork, youth group activities, car repairs and home improvement projects.

Pat is survived by his wife, MaryRose Cornell, daughters Jill (Tom) Diroff, Amy (Brian) Robinson, and son, Michael Cornell. He is also survived by grandchildren: Christopher (Lauren) Diroff, Alyssa Diroff and Zachary Cornell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with the rosary at 7:00PM, at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108. Additional visitation will be available on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church, 4000 Ave Maria Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Luncheon immediately follows funeral services.
