Nancy Gail Dahlquist was unexpectedly called to her heavenly home on December 2, 2025 at the age of 90 in
Cambridge, Minnesota.
Nancy was born in Red Wing, Minnesota on January 13,1935 to Alvin and Leila Bremer. She was baptized in the German Lutheran Church as an infant and grew up in Lake City, Minnesota on her parent's deer farm/apple orchard. She met her future husband Bill Dahlquist when he worked at WCCO TV, when Nancy and her father brought a fawn for an appearance on the Arlie Haberle show. They were united in marriage on August 13,1955 in Lake City, MN, and made their home in
Minneapolis until 1969, when they moved to Isanti with their growing family.
Nancy is survived by her children: Bill Dahlquist and wife Chris, Dan Dahlquist and wife April, Robin Schulz and husband Alan; and her brother Dave Bremer; plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband William.
Nancy was a professional seamstress when her children were young; she later worked at the Cambridge State Hospital in the CADRE program and as a kindergarten aide in District 911. Nancy then pursued an associate's degree in accounting from Anoka Ramsey Community College and worked as an accountant at Minnesota Flexible until her retirement.
When their children were young, Bill and Nancy enjoyed camping all across the United States, using an old tent that Bill brought back from his Army service. Everyone prayed for good weather in that leaky tent! They also enjoyed country life in Isanti, where Bill and Nancy raised tracking bloodhounds used in search and rescue missions.
Nancy's commitment to faith and service was unwavering. As an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Crystal, Nancy served on the altar guild, banner and quilting committees, assisted with communion, and was the coordinator for Global Health Ministries. She also served several positions at the NEAR food shelf. Her sewing talents were spotlighted when she made an authentic Scandinavian costume, which she wore at the church's lutefisk dinner and on a float in the Cambridge Swedish Festival parade, even though she was of German descent!
Nancy's passions were many! She was an avid seamstress, making quilts for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed feeding the birds and tending her beautiful flower gardens. After her husband's passing and when she retired, she wanted to do two things: volunteer and travel. She did both with all her might! Her travels included vacations to 23 countries. Several years ago she moved from Minneapolis to Cambridge to be closer to family.
Nancy lived by her Christian faith and values and was a blessing to everyone she knew. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23; it gave her great comfort. She will be loved and missed by many friends and family. Special thanks to the staff at Walker Methodist Levande, who cared so well for her the last few years.
