Nancy (Holland) DeWind, 91, of California, formerly of LaSalle, passed away on January 18, 2023.
A funeral and graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Deer Park Community Church and Cemetery in Deer Park Township. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Nancy was born on November 11, 1931 in LaSalle, Illinois to Daniel James and Ethel (Carter) Holland. She graduated from LaSalle Peru High School in 1949 and continued her education at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana. She and her family moved to Glendale, California in 1973 from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Nancy was a member of Chapter HG P.E.O, The Glendale La Canada Alumni Club of Pi Beta Phi and a former member of the National Charity League of Glendale. She was a banquet manager at the former Verdugo Club for 15 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be very much missed by her family.
Nancy DeWind is survived by her son David (Kristi) of Ferlong, Pennsylvania, daughters Leslie (David) Steiner of Park City, Utah and Karen (David) Thomas of Redondo Beach, California. As well as grandchildren, Chris (Amanda) and Kate DeWind, Daniel (Morgane), Courtney and Rachel Steiner, Davy and Mackenzie Thomas and great granddaughters, Summer, Sage and Savannah and three great grandsons, Milo, Jude and Walker. Her nephew Daniel James Holland III and Mary Holland widow of her nephew Douglas Holland. Along with Scout the dog.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Miller DeWind in 1994, as well as her sisters, Marjorie Ostman, Eloise Rawley and her brother Daniel James Holland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
