Nancy Donovan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
Nancy L. Donovan died peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 25, 2025 at the age of 80.

Nancy was born in Newport to Sylvi (Jokinen) Donovan and Merle Bean. She graduated from Newport High School in 1963 and spent her whole life in and around Newport.

Although she never married and had children of her own, she loved children. She worked at the Newport Headstart, for the Recreation Department, and she even coached some sports. She also worked behind the scenes to help many children be included and be able to play sports.

Nancy loved the outdoors; she especially loved fishing, foraging for ginseng and gardening. She also enjoyed sliding, berry picking, and just hiking in the woods or camping. She ran a community garden in Newport, and also had her own business planting and taking care of flowers at area businesses.

Nancy went to the Bonnie Prudden Institute and received a degree in Myotherapy. She worked out of the Maxfield Clinic in Newport.

Nancy loved the ocean and was always up for a day at the beach.

Nancy was very spiritual and believed strongly in the power of God and positivity.

She was a talented artist, a loyal friend, and a great listener, and she will be greatly missed.
