Nancy Ann Graichen (née Crompton), lovingly called "Nanny" by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at the age of 81. Born and raised in Smithfield, Rhode Island, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Robert and Gladys Crompton and sister to the late Barbara Gardner.
A proud graduate of Smithfield High School, Nancy dedicated her career to supporting the health and well-being of new mothers and their babies as a staff member at Thundermist Health Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication touched countless lives in her community.
Nancy's family was the heart of her life. She is survived by her loving daughters, Debra Albanese and Karen Deresta, and her cherished grandchildren: Travis Caldarone, Craig Caldarone, Julie Albanese, and Christopher Caldarone. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Nancy had a deep love for the simple pleasures of life. She found happiness in the beauty of flowers, the magic of fireworks, and the tranquility of long walks outdoors. An avid gardener, she spent many hours tending to her garden, surrounded by the animals she adored, especially dogs. The ocean held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in weekend trips with her daughters and grandchildren, enjoying whole belly clams by the shore.
In her later years, Nancy found great comfort in the company of her fur-grand-baby, Ellie, whose visits brightened her days and filled her heart with love.
Nancy Ann Graichen will be remembered for her enduring love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of Nancy's life will be held by her family by the Ocean she cherished so much.
