Mrs. Nancy Drucilla Hawks McPeak, age 72, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning June 22, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on December 28, 1950, the only child of the late Clarence Harold Hawks and Nancy Elizabeth “Lizzy” Seal Hawks. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. Mrs. McPeak graduated from Catawba College with her BS in Mathematics. She taught school at North Surry High School. Mrs. McPeak retired from Haymore Memorial Baptist Church as the church secretary after 32 years of dedicated service and was the owner of J’s Office Supply. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, David Franklin McPeak, Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Franklin McPeak, Jr. and wife Emily, and Brian McPeak and wife Adrian; two precious grandchildren whom she adored, Ava McPeak and Carter McPeak; and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McPeak was preceded in death by a special aunt, Josie Seal. Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 25, 2023, at 2:00PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Minix and Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 12:30PM until 2:00PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. George Yacoub and his excellent staff for their great care, as well as the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Truly sorry to hear about this. Nancy was a very nice lady, always enjoyed going to school with her. Prayers for the family.
