Nancy Hernandez

On March 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia, Nancy Abarca Hernandez left this world surrounded by loved ones.

Predeceased by her parents, Victor and Ana Abarca.

Survived by her loving husband, Humberto and their 2 daughters, Michelle (Anthony) Tomasula and Claudia (Robert) De Leon; 3 grandchildren, Noah and Alex Tomasula & Javier De Leon; 3 siblings, Gustavo (Carmen) Abarca, Ana Maria (Guillermo) Astudillo and Victor (Norma) Abarca; nieces and nephews, Pablo, Christian, Will, Evelyn, Christopher, Carolina and Andrew.

Nancy was born in Santiago, Chile and immigrated to Rochester, New York in 1977 where she met her husband on her first day in the United States. Nancy and Humberto built a wonderful family and life together in Rochester, New York with their 2 daughters.

Nancy worked various positions in the community supporting youth, immigrant workers and underserved populations. She also taught Spanish to professional adults in the law enforcement, medical and business fields. Nancy was a mentor to many and touched countless lives through her compassion, kind heart and giving spirit.

She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. A truly extraordinary woman who always wanted to add her style and beauty to the world around her. She was a talented cook, gardener, and lover of fashion who always stayed active.

Family and friends are invited to call THURSDAY, 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services (3325 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623). Her funeral services will be celebrated, FRIDAY, 10 am in the chapel at the funeral home. Interment, Ascension Garden Cemetery.
