She was born on December 15, 1936 in Marshfield, daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Garten) Cherney.
Nancy attended St. John's grade school in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School in 1954.
After high school Nancy attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing, graduating in 1957. Nursing was her passion and she was very dedicated to her career. Throughout her life she worked as a nurse in Thorp, Neillsville, Columbus, and ultimately, Plymouth, Wisconsin, where she was the Director of Nursing at Rocky Knoll. Later in her career, she was an administrator at Kindred Hearts Assisted Living Facility, and taught nursing skills to other aspiring nurses in Plymouth, Manitowoc, and Green Bay area.
On October 11, 1958 Nancy married Daniel Slupski. Together, they raised three sons. Daniel preceded her in death on September 11, 1991. She later married Gerald Hetrick on July 31, 2018. Gerald preceded her in death on September 25, 2022.
When she wasn't working, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, doing DIY projects, gardening, and being outdoors.
Nancy is survived by her sons: Steven Slupski of Marshfield, Michael Slupski of Plymouth, and Patrick (Julie) Slupski of Chico, California; grandchildren, Nick Menzel, Joe Slupski, and Paul Slupski; and siblings Bob Cherney of Marshfield, Kathy (Doug) Boucher of Guffey, Colorado, and Dick Cherney of Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred; husbands Daniel Slupski and Gerald Hetrick; and an infant daughter, Debra Slupski.
A prayer service for Nancy will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 12 PM at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Father Philip Reifenberg will officiate. Visitation will take place from 11 AM until the time of service at noon. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler.
