In Loving Memory
Nancy Jean Kilgore
October 29, 1952 - April 10, 2025
TABERG, NY - Nancy J. Kilgore, age 72, of Taberg, NY, transitioned to her heavenly home on April 10, 2025, following a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy Jean Kilgore was born on October 29, 1952 to Barbara Jean (Vanderpool) and William Elwood Williams of Holland Patent, NY. Nancy was affectionately called "Nain" (grandmother in Welsh) by many of her grandchildren and loved ones. One of her favorite pastimes was playing her guitar and making a joyful noise to the Lord. Over the years, Nancy brought many smiles and joy to others through her Gospel music. She also took great pleasure in playing cards, especially with the grandkids and her siblings.
Nancy loved Sunday dinners with the family, hummingbirds, the color purple, riding her four-wheeler around her property, campfires and taking regular evening walks with the kids. For Nancy, one of the sweetest sounds on earth was the sound of the peepers in the spring. Nancy loved a good bargain and was prone to collecting coupons and gift cards to share with others including the homeless man on the street. Nancy did not deem herself a rich woman, but she was rich beyond compare in the blessings of God and the abundant love of family and friends.
Nancy grew up in the Central Leather-stocking region of NY state. She graduated from Madison Central School in Madison, NY, in 1970. In her earlier years, Nancy worked for Utica State Hospital and later, for the Central NY DDSO. Nancy also was a recognized and dedicated church bus captain at Marcy Pilgrim Holiness Church. She delighted in serving in this ministry and telling the children about Jesus. Nancy was a member of the Queen Village Bible Church in Camden, NY and had a long-standing friendship with Pastor David Bubb and his wife, Merilee.
Nancy whole-heartedly believed that her children were more precious than anything in the world and that they were called and chosen by God to be filled with the Spirit and let their lights shine into the world.
Nancy is survived by her seven children: Patricia (Dan) Payne, of Wasilla, AK, Deborah (Matt) Shaffer of Colorado Springs, CO, Richard (Lynnette) Kilgore Jr. of Ocala, FL, Robert (Nichole) Kilgore of Taberg, NY, Benjamin Kilgore of Taberg, NY, Daniel Kilgore of Taberg, NY and Matthew (Hilary) Kilgore of Taberg, NY.
Nancy leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: Megan Payne, Wyatt (Makayla) Payne, Waylon (Emme) Payne, Jacob Shaffer, Luke Shaffer, Skylynn Kilgore, Joseph Kilgore, Andrew Kilgore, Elijah Kilgore, Micah Kilgore, Samuel Kilgore, Joshua Kilgore, Jonathan Kilgore, Levi Kilgore, Jacob Kilgore, Hunter Pike, Emmalynn Pike, Zebulon Pike, Asher Betances, Levi Payne, Jaxson Payne and Payton Payne.
Six siblings: Robert P. (Jodi) Williams of Ormond Beach, FL, Laurie (Bill) Malpezzi of North Ft. Meyers, FL, William Brian Williams of Oriskany Falls, NY, Rebecca Evans of Pagosa Springs, CO, Robyn (Paul) Longi of Ballston Spa, NY, David (Raemecia) Williams of Port Leyden, NY.
Nancy is predeceased by her (former) husband, Richard Kilgore, Sr., of Willow Springs, MO, and youngest daughter, Jessie Suzanne (Cameron) Pike of Parish, NY.
Funeral Services conducted by Rev. David Bubb, will be held at God's Missionary Church in Rome, NY at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025. A Calling Hour will be held from 12 - 1 p.m. at the church. Immediately following the service, there will be a graveside interment at the Maple Hill Cemetery on Coal Hill Rd. in Taberg, NY. Food and fellowship will follow at Annsville Commons. Flowers may be delivered to LaRobardiere Funeral Home in Camden.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Queen Village Bible Church to purchase Bibles through the Gideons. "The grass withers, the flower fades but the Word of our God stands forever" Isaiah 40:8
