Nancy Kay Koetsier, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She was born on August 13, 1943, to James and Hermina (Tiethof) Rossback. Nancy enjoyed a fun and loving childhood with her sister, Linda, and brother, Jim. She met and married the love of her life, Fred Koetsier, as a young girl and soon started a family.
Together she and Fred raised their three children in the Caledonia area. They were some of the early members of Peace Reformed Church (now Peace Church) and made lasting friendships playing cards, snowmobiling, bowling, traveling, and just having fun together.
Nancy lived a life of faith and kindness. She shared her love for the Lord with her children and grandchildren (along with her love of coffee). Although her memory had faded, a week before her passing she was still singing the hymns written on her heart as a child.
Nancy was a devoted and much-loved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. To be around Nancy meant being around joy and laughter. She loved spending time with her family and was a regular at her kids' and grandkids' sporting events. She and Fred spent 12 wonderful summers at Paradise Cove where she was known as the "Sucker Grandma" because she always had a Blow Pop sucker for the kids. She was a true Nascar fan and had a custom Dale Jr. license plate on her red sports car. Nancy enjoyed playing Bingo and spending part of the winter down in Bradenton with Fred for many years.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Robert (Kathryn) Koetsier, Douglas (Beverly) Koetsier, Kimberly (Craig) Walters; nine grandchildren, Kevin (Andrea) Koetsier, Kristin (Lee) McNally, Brad (Liz) Koetsier, Audrey (Tim) O'Connor, Alex (Emily) Koetsier, Kaycee (Ted) Vella, Nicole Walters, Danielle (Niko) Smith, Jamie (Tristen) Holst; 15 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Special thanks to West Michigan Hospice for their kind and thorough care of Nancy. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE. Memorial contributions may be made to West Michigan Hospice or Highway Connections, an organization that delivers Bibles to truck stops across the U.S. Private family interment at Blain Cemetery, Cutlerville.
