Nancy Ann Krahn, age 89, of Wausau, WI, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2025, surrounded by family at Wood Aven Health and Rehabilitation, under the care of Compassus Hospice Services.
Nancy was born to George and Marjorie (Hunziker) Wohlfahrt on September 16, 1935. She grew up in Wausau and graduated from Wausau High School in 1953. Five years later, on August 3, 1957, she married, Ervin Krahn. Together they raised four children: Scott, Dean, Sue, and Kristin.
When it was time for Ervin’s parents to retire, he and Nancy took over as the owners of CT Lumber & Supply Co. While Nancy could more often be found handling bookkeeping and more administrative work, she wasn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and work in the lumberyard when an extra hand was needed.
Nancy was a voracious reader, often able to finish 600+ page books in one sitting. When she wasn’t reading, Nancy enjoyed spending her time at ceramics class with friends, or going up North with Ervin and the rest of the family to their cottage in Minocqua for both work and relaxation. For a real getaway from work, Nancy and Ervin would frequent the casino when they had the chance.
Nancy loved baking and cooking. She would regularly design and bake wedding cakes for people as a beautiful personal gift. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting for them. Watching her grandchildren and then sharing a homemade dinner at the end of the day was a cherished way to spend her time.
More than anything, Nancy was a generous and giving person who always looked out for others, and put others before herself. She had endured so much over the last year specifically, and her grace and strength will live on in all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ervin Krahn; daughters Sue (Keith) Baine and Kristin (Steve) Swanson; grandchildren Casey, Kyle and Kali Krahn, Tanner and Taylor Baine, Aidan and Zoe Swanson; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marjorie Wohlfahrt; sons Scott and Dean Krahn; and siblings Robert Wohlfahrt and Carol Jaecks.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and the Wood Aven Staff for the incredible and attentive care Nancy received.
