NANCY CAROLYN (KING) KUBIT
Beloved wife and mother, died on February 2, 2024, Rochester, NY. Age 92. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Joseph Kubit.
Her legacy is: Mother of daughter Teresa Ann Kubit Howe (Philip), Palmetto, FL and three sons Daniel Jude Kubit (Nancy) of Rochester, NY, Andrew Paul Kubit (Joni) of Rochester, NY & Timothy John Kubit (Katrina) of Webster, NY. Grandmother of Benjamin, Cassondra, Daniel, Matthew, Kayleigh, Josiah & Jared Kubit. Great-Grandmother of Paisley & Luke Kubit.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lina B. and Grover C. King of Dalton, GA, three brothers Eugene (Lamar), John & Lacy and two sisters Laura (Addie) & Claudia. She is survived by her sisters Margaret (Judy) and Rebecca, both of Dalton, GA.
Born in High Springs, FL in 1931 Nancy was raised from age five through seventeen by her Aunt Margaret and Uncle Joseph (Josie) Swails. She graduated in 1948 from McClenegan High School in Florence, SC and trained in Cosmetic Arts.
She relocated to Pittsburgh, PA to reunite with her parents, ran an ice cream stand adjacent to her father's Bridgeville gas station and where she was introduced to her future husband. Married in 1951 in Florence, SC while her husband, Dan, was stationed at Ft. Stewart. Their marriage lasted nearly 61 years. She said her husband was the most generous, funniest, hardest working, most creative, most colorful, best looking, most mischievous and best story teller she ever knew.
Her family was the center of her life and her pride and joy. Her husband always came first in daily life. All the little things she did were to keep everyone happy. Along with her husband, they helped many without a second thought.
Always true to her southern roots, she made a dynamite peach cobbler and cornbread stuffing. She loved sweet tea, okra and chicken and dumplings. One of her favorite flowers was azalea and favorite trees were dogwood and magnolia. And family was first.
Family and friends may call Saturday February 24, 2024 from 11-1 pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (GREECE LOCATION). Following visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at 1pm. Interment will be held in the Spring of 2024 at Western NY Veteran's Cemetery, Corfu, NY. Check website in the future.
