John Kubit Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Dec. 5, 2025.
John Sylvester Kubit was born on December 31, 1943 in Hamtramck, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Caroline, and his brother Edward.
He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1961, followed with an engineering internship. In 1962 he began a successful career at General Motors as a design engineer retiring after 38 years.
In 1973 he married his wife, Claudia at St. Cunegunda Parish in Detroit. They settled in Warren, later moving to Rochester in 1977.
He was a beloved and loving husband, a devoted father to his children; Roseanne (Larry Kaitner), and John (Jessica), and a very special grandfather to Ava, Alyssa, Carter, and Julia.
John especially enjoyed family vacations with his children and grandchildren to Florida, Alabama, and northern Michigan. He also looked forward to annual cousin weekends filled with lasting memories.
Over the years, John saw the beauty and history of the world traveling to Ireland, Spain, and Italy. In 2023 he completed a pilgrimage to the Holy Land where he and Claudia renewed their marriage vows in Cana.
In 2011 John joined the Knights of Columbus where he valued his faithful friendships and commitment to honoring others. He volunteered his time to cooking at the Lenten seafood dinners, organizing the annual children's Christmas parties, participating in the tootsie roll campaigns, and helped feed the homeless with Manna Meals.
He was a proud member of the American Polish Century Club for 20 years. He volunteered with his fellow members by making city chicken and golumpki for the annual Polish Festival and he enjoyed cooking and serving those attending while sharing in their traditions and heritage.
John peacefully passed away to his heavenly kingdom on November 30. His love, gentile spirit, and our cherished memories will forever remain in our hearts.
We are grateful to the Bellbrook memory care and Trinity Health hospice for their sacred care of John in his final days.
