LAIER, Nancy Helen (Lester) - Age 67, of Deerfield Township/Howell, died, Monday, July 5, 2010 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Faussett Road, Deerfield Townhip. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Thursday from 6-9 PM, Friday from 2-5 and 6-9 PM and at church Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home 7:00 PM Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607. Nancy was born May 1, 1943 in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Lyle and Helen (Schmidt) Lester. She married Charles William Laier at St. Augustine Catholic Church. She had resided in Deerfield Township for the past 45 years. Nancy was a 1961 graduate of Durand High School. She had worked for General Motors for 2 years before she left to raise her family of 5 children. She was the Deerfield Township Clerk and on the Hartland School board for many years. She also was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Surviving are: husband Charles William "Bill" Laier; 5 children, Charles, Jr. and wife Bridgett Laier of Lansing, Dale and wife Rovertta Laier of Howell, Robert and wife Michele Laier of Howell, Joseph and wife Jill Laier of Howell and Monica and husband Mark Samples of Linden; 14 grandchildren; mother, Helen Lester of Lennon; 2 sisters, Linda and husband Walt Widder of Durand and Susan and husband Michael Bentley of Lennon; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
