Nancy Cowart Lariscy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2025, at her home in Sylvania, Georgia, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 8th, 1946, in Millen, Georgia, Nancy lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community.
A committed resident of Sylvania, Nancy graduated from Screven County High School in 1965, where she was an active participant in basketball and cheerleading, creating fond memories and lifelong friendships, which she cherished deeply. Her passion for learning and living life to the fullest were evident in her many diverse hobbies that included reading, thrift shopping, arts and crafts, and arrowhead hunting.
Nancy dedicated an impressive 50 years of her career to Screven County Hospital, serving in the medical records department.
She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 59 years, Thomas Walter Lariscy, Sr.; her beloved children, Melissa Lariscy (Bucky), Walt Lariscy (Brooke), and Chad Lariscy (Brielle); and her cherished siblings-in-law, Vicki Mobley and Donna Miller (Howard). Nancy is also survived by her brother, Benjamin Leroy Cowart (Debra). Her legacy lives on through her 12 adored grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her care and guidance. Her home was also graced by the presence of her two loving dogs, Izzy and Ginger.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Benjamin Leonard Cowart and Dora Ethelyn Cowart, and her brother, Kim Melton Cowart.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, December 29th, 2025, at Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home, Joiner-Anderson Chapel.
