Nancy Lee Hughes, 90, of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Nazareth Home Clifton.
She was born on October 20, 1935, in Louisville, one of six children and the only daughter to the late Edward C. Zehnder and Virginia Helen Freeman Zehnder. Her brothers, Edward, Paul, Johnny and Lawrence Zehnder precede her in death.
Nancy was a proud 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and remained closely connected with her classmates. The friendships she cherished, stayed in touch for decades, continuing to gather for monthly outings until about a year or so ago.
She was a longtime and active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she is also preceded in death by her first husband, William Edward Hughes, second husband, William Schlich, two sons, William and Alan Hughes and daughter in law Meg Hughes.
Nancy is survived by her children, Charles, Robert, and Richard (Melanie) Hughes; Elaine Howard (Luke) and Anne Horne (John); daughters-in-law, Lisa Hughes and Rhagan Dillingham; brother Ralph Zehnder (Toni) and grandchildren, James,Brendan and Brigid Hughes; Andrew and John Harris Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Lilli Dillingham and Brittany Wright (Ryan).
Nancy is also survived by those who she loved as family: Jimmy and Karen Campbell and family; Palmer Deye and family, Nick Conti and family, Quinn, Eli and Maddie Wright and the entire Schlich Family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road, with burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews.
Memorial gifts in the form of contributions may be made to Sacred Heart or Trinity High School.
