Nancy Loftus, of Sagamore Beach, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. She was the beloved wife of Stephen Loftus and the cherished daughter of the late Neil and Joan (Wharf) Hall.
Born in Quincy on January 6, 1954, she dedicated twenty-two years of her life to teaching at Indian Brook School in Manomet, where she touched the lives of countless students with her kindness, creativity, and deep care. Art has always played a major role in Nancy's life; she was a skilled painter, metal smith, and excelled in ceramics. She had her own kiln where she produced beautiful pottery and even taught it at the Plymouth Art Guild.
Nancy had a love for nature and creativity that extended beyond the classroom. She found joy in reading, sewing clothes for her children when they were young, and caring for plants and flowers. Animals held a special place in her heart, particularly her beloved cats and chickens. She was also a former member of the local choral group, Persephanie's Daughters, where she shared her love of music and community.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Loftus, her children Jessica Loftus of Marshfield, Sarah Loftus of Roslindale, and Peter Loftus and his wife Tracy of Falmouth. She was the proud grandmother of Connor and Siobhan, and she leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Lynne Ellis.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, 149 Court Street, Plymouth, MA on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's memory to a local animal shelter or arts education program of your choice.
