A Celebration of Life: Nancy Greer MacNeil
We lovingly remember Nancy Greer MacNeil, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was 73.
Early Life and Arkansas Roots
Nancy was born in
Memphis, Tennessee, on March 1, 1952. She grew up in Earle, Arkansas where her childhood was filled with rich memories of growing up on the large family farm on Greer Road. As the eldest of five siblings, Nancy's deeply nurturing spirit was evident from a young age, a role she wholeheartedly embraced throughout her life.
She graduated from Earle High School in 1970 and continued her education, earning a bachelor's degree in education from Arkansas State University and a master's degree from the University of Central Arkansas.
A Teacher's Heart
After several years in Dover, Arkansas, Nancy made Vicksburg, Mississippi, her cherished home. It was there she met and married her "sweetie," Robert "Bob" MacNeil, raised her children, forged lifelong friendships, and created many lasting memories.
Nancy devoted the early years of her career to supporting students in special education classrooms across various Arkansas school districts. Later, she continued to share her passion by substitute teaching and tutoring in her children's schools. Her faith was central to her life, and she taught countless classes in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, ministries where many of her deepest friendships began. She was a devoted prayer warrior, a nurturer to everyone she met, and a teacher at heart.
After many years in Vicksburg, she and Bob moved to
Madison, Mississippi, to be closer to family. Nancy eventually made her final move back to her beloved Arkansas, settling in Maumelle near her son and his family.
Grace in Hardship
From the beginning of her life, Nancy faced physical challenges that significantly impacted her everyday life. While her physical body may have been limited at times, her heart, faith, and compassion knew no bounds. She inspired all who knew her with her grace in hardship and her remarkable ability to find joy in even the smallest moments. She taught us the true meaning of perseverance, how to trust in God's promises, and the importance of smiling even on the hardest of days. We take comfort in knowing her earthly body is no longer burdened-she is fully restored in the presence of the Lord, walking freely and likely whistling and laughing as loudly as she always did.
A Legacy of Love
Nancy had a strong, lifelong bond with her grandmother, affectionately known as Granny. She treasured this relationship so deeply that, when she became a grandmother herself, she chose to carry on the name Granny.
She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family traditions and the love she poured into every homemade birthday cake and Christmas cookie. She possessed a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life; her welcoming spirit meant she rarely met a stranger-only friends she had yet to know. She delighted in telling stories, sharing each vivid detail, often multiple times. Nancy also had a passion for all things music, bluegrass especially, she loved old church hymns and was the world's best dulcimer player (according to her children)!
She delighted in simple joys like finding four leaf clovers, spending time in the swimming pool with friends, the way the sun would cast rainbows down the hall through her many sun catchers, the first spring blooms of daffodils, and the hummingbirds returning to her windowsill each year.
Family
While we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life, her contagious laugh, and the lessons she taught us of unwavering love that will continue to comfort us in her absence.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Greer and Martha Greer, and her beloved husband of 29 years, Robert MacNeil.
She is survived by her devoted children:
Eric Amick (Rebekka), Louann Robertson (Daniel), and Christen Jones (Rob).
She was blessed with eight grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Caleb and Jonah Amick; Caitlyn, Kinley, Cara, and Colby Robertson; and Layton and Hollis Jones. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Mike Greer, Lou Burns, Pat Greer, Judy Sharp, and their spouses.
