Nancy Tarango Marquez, a beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on January 4, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on August 2, 1955, in Fabens, Texas to Nicolas and Leandra Tarango.
Nancy was known for her kindness, warmth, strength, sense of humor, and devotion to her family. She had a deep love for family, faith, cooking, music, helping others and she touched the lives of many through her generosity, compassion, and unwavering support and prayers. She also blessed and provided comfort to many with her handmade crosses and healing heart pillows.
She is survived by her spouse, Jesus P. Marquez; her children, Nicole Elder (son-in-law Carl Elder), Natalie Herrera (son-in-law Anthony Herrera), Jesus Marquez II (daughter-in-law Bridget Hill) and Julius Marquez; her grandchildren, Jesus Angel Marquez III and Kaiya Doreen Marquez; her siblings, Nicolas Tarango Jr. and Mary Ann Gary (brother-in-law Stuart Gary), along with her beloved nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Nicolas and Leandra Tarango.
A celebration of life will be held in El Paso on January 22, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and in Van Horn on January 24, 2026, at the Van Horn Convention Center. Interment in Van Horn will follow celebration of life at the Van Horn Cemetery.
Nancy’s family invites loved ones to remember her through acts of kindness.
Nancy Tarango Marquez will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind.
Gathering of Remembrance will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina.
