Nancy Matza Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brezniak Funeral Directors - Newton on Aug. 7, 2024.
Nancy Gail (Hill) Matza, beloved sister, mother of Evan (Karyn) and Lexi (Jamison) and grandmother. A bright, witty woman who prevailed against the social mores of her time, Nancy was blessed with thirty years of marriage to Brian Matza. Together, they raised two children and founded a technical school which trained air conditioning technicians. When Brian died suddenly, Nancy was left a widow in her 50s. She set her prodigious intelligence and energy to attending law school, while working full-time as a technical writer. It was then that Nancy met her second husband, Martin Dropkin, and they went into practice together. After his death in 2019, Nancy continued to practice law and found great meaning and satisfaction in her work supporting people with their legal needs. Nancy was very active in the Medford chapter of Hadassah for many years and was most recently a member of Shir Tikva in Wayland.
Funeral Service at Framingham-Natick Hebrew Cemetery on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 11:30 am. Following services, memorial observance will be at Nancy's late residence. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to New England Justice for our Neighbors, or any other non profit of your choice.

Thinking of Nancy and keep hearing her voice in my head telling me what to do. I miss her dearly
One of the kindest, thoughtful, generous and especially gifted person I knew.
Wish you were still here. Nancy.
You would be kickin' a** right now.
Rip my friend and mentor.
To the family: you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Nancy was an amazing person, so dedicated to her work. Nancy was helping me with Guardianship for my niece and I felt so fortunate to be able to spend the time with her in the weeks before she passed. We went to lunch, she told me stories, we laughed, we almost cried and we just enjoyed each other's company. Nancy will be missed by many, she is a very special person that made such a difference to many people.

I have known Nancy for many years - outdoor breaks at EMC in Hopkinton when we both worked there - the afternoon she spent with me talking about a story of mine she edited for me - her recent help with my goddaughter/niece. I loved her FB posts about her family - holiday cooking - her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. She was a caring and courageous woman. I both liked and enormously respected her. To the family: I am so very sorry for your/our loss. Nancy was one of the good ones. She will always be remembered and forever missed. She was more than just my attorney, she was my friend and mentor. She always had an answer and solution to everything. For over 20 years she stood by my side ready and willing to help. We talked so much over the past few months and I'm missing her so much already (every day). Nancy, keep sending those dimes, Nancy! I know they are from you. <3 I miss and love you, my friend. God Bless you.
