Nancy E. McCarthy, 91, of Lake Sheridan died Monday July 21, 2025 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Long Beach, NY on September 7, 1933; the daughter of the late Nicholas F. and Ellen Shea Callan. Her late husband of 50 years James J. McCarthy died in 2006

She was active in her community. She taught Kindergarten until she started raising her own five children then she went back to school as a substitute teacher. She loved coaching all different sports for her children. Nancy was very active with the Catholic Church as a religious teacher and a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

Also surviving are a son, Nicholas J., Brookville; three daughters, Mariellen Hagy and husband, Keith, Warrenton, Va.; Maureen Marold and husband, Joseph, Jermyn; and Eileen Gorton and husband, David, Nicholson; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Emily Jessica, James, Marissa, Brittany, Nicole, Kyle, Charlee, Callan, Jacob, Ethan; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter Kerry Ann McCarthy.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff for their amazing care of our mother and family.

In Lieu of of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart 30 Ed Preate Dr. Suite 108, Moosic PA 18507.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday September 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Vianney Parish 704 Montdale Road Scott, PA 18447 with Reverend August A. Ricciardi officiating. Friends may call at the church an hour before service time 9am-10am. Interment at St Catherine’s Cemetery in Covington Twp.
