SereniCare Funeral Home - South Salt LakeIt is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Nancy Ellen McClellan, who passed away on February 1, 2026. Born on January 20, 1947, Nancy lived to touch the hearts and lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit, strength, and kindness will be remembered and cherished by all.
Nancy leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her life and carry her memory in their hearts. She is survived by her sons, Steven Davis, Michael Davis, and Joseph McClellan, and her daughters, Beth Maroney, Katie Stringham, and Sarah McClellan. Her brothers, Dennis Hall and Larry Hall, and her sister Paula King also survive her. Nancy had 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren that she loved to spend time with. She was reunited in death with her beloved parents, Walter Hall and Sylvia Hall, who predeceased her.
Nancy graduated from George S. Schafer High School in Southgate, Michigan in 1965. She went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan in 1968. She worked in the ICU in Detroit and later went on to work as a Hospice Nurse for Intermountain Healthcare before becoming certified in Infusion Therapy and becoming an integral part of the hospital’s bone marrow transplant team.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nancy's deep and steadfast belief was a guiding force throughout her life. In her leisure time, Nancy found joy in the simple things. She was an avid fan of the music of John Denver, Neil Diamond and Simon and Garfunkel. She loved watching movies, The Sound of Music, Chariots of Fire, and White Christmas being some of her favorites. A huge fan of racquetball, she enjoyed the thrill and suspense of the sport.
Nancy delighted in attending performances by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which she held dear to her heart, and enjoyed performing as a member of the Sterling Singers Choir for many years. She loved musical theater so much she worked as an usher at the Hale Center Theater so she could be around it. She found comfort and joy in playing music—piano, organ, guitar—showcasing her innate artistic talent. She spent many years as the pianist for her ward, for the Salt Lake City Temple, and for the children at Dilworth Elementary School. Music was the great love of her life.
Nancy loved Hot Tamales and Diet Coke. Dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Shopping at Costco and The Other Side Academy. The color peach. Carrot Cake, Wheat Thins, and Swiss Cheese. Her lipstick was bold and red. Her jewelry, dazzling and sparkly. Independent and deeply driven, she was undeniably gorgeous, inside and out.
Nancy Ellen McClellan was not just a beloved mother, sister, and friend but also a beacon of courage and strength. She will be deeply missed, but her memory and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts.
There is a service planned to Celebrate Nancy's life on February 13, 2026, 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2535 E. Newcastle Drive, Sandy, Utah.
