Nancy was the cherished mother of Debie (Fred) Davis, James (Theresa) Hill, William (Pam) Hill, and Maryalice Smither. She was the proud grandmother of Nicholas Passero, Alexandra Hill, Lauren Ruff, Justin Smither, Lucas Smither, and Wyatt Smither, and the great-grandmother to Troy Passero, Joseph Taylor, and Madison Taylor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul McConkey, and her brother, Richard Ellis. Throughout her life, Nancy was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated her time to supporting her children’s activities, including Girl Scouts, Little League Baseball, Cub Scouts, and Majorettes. Later in life, she worked as a home health care nurse, where her patients cherished her gentle smile and compassionate demeanor. Nancy had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping, and, of course, playing Bingo! She made lasting memories with her family during many vacations to the Outer Banks and had a special place in her heart for the bright lights and excitement of Las Vegas, where she loved playing the slot machines. Above all, Nancy loved life and lived it to the fullest. Nancy’s grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. They fondly called her “Gram,” and she found immeasurable happiness in spending time with them. Fun-loving, enthusiastic, and full of life, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy’s spirit and love will forever live on in the hearts of her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her joy, and the boundless love she gave to everyone she met.
