Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Service - Albert LeaNancy Dawn McDonald, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away on February 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and deep love for her family and friends.
Nancy was born Nancy Dawn McKinney on September 4, 1941, in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert and Maxine McKinney. She grew up with a vibrant spirit that would define her entire life. Nancy later worked at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, where she met the love of her life, John McDonald. The two were married on September 6, 1970, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and adventure. John preceded her in death, as did her parents, Robert McKinney Sr. and Maxine McKinney, and her brother, Robert McKinney Jr.
Nancy was a vivacious, fun-loving woman who truly lived life to the fullest. She had an incredible gift for bringing people together and was known as the life of the party wherever she went. Her adventurous spirit led her to live and work in many places, including California, Montana, Minnesota, Texas, Korea, and Florida, where she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures-playing cards and games, enjoying tennis and golf, hosting gatherings, and traveling. Her laughter was contagious, and her warmth made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Nancy was a devoted and loving aunt to Keri and James Ynclan, Danielle Cleary, Jordan Adams, and Cayden Ynclan of New Braunfels, Texas; Dan, Valerie, and Sydney McDonald of Oakdale, California; and Scott, Natalie, John, and Wesley McDonald of Castle Rock, Washington. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Terry McDonald and Denise McDonald, and was dearly loved by the entire McDonald family.
Nancy's presence brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of all who knew her. She will be missed tremendously and remembered always.
Services will be held on April 11, 2026, at 9:00 - 11:00 am, at Bonnerup Funeral Home, with a private family burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Forever in our hearts, Nancy will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her boundless love, and the unforgettable way she made life more fun for everyone around her.
