Irene Marie Nesset, 92, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, while listening to her favorite hymn, "Amazing Grace” and surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 31, 1934, in Bismarck, North Dakota, Irene was a daughter of the late Barney and Bertina (Bertfelt) Diesman. On Aug. 31, 1953, she married Orville Nesset, in Sioux Falls, SD.
Irene was a cherished mother, who dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker, nurturing her children with love and devotion. Throughout her life, Irene held various jobs, including working at a cafe in Northwood, Iowa, and later at Land O' Lakes, the Bricelyn Canning Plant, and Green Giant. Her strong work ethic and playful nature connected her to many within her community. A social butterfly, Irene found joy in her interactions with friends and family. She loved playing Bingo and spent countless hours crocheting, creating beautiful pieces for those she loved. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Glenville, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
Those left to cherish Irene’s memory include six children, Ann Nesset, Nancy Poore, John Nesset, Sally Soesbe and her husband, Willis, Sky Nesset and his wife, Alice, and Robert Nesset and his wife, Dawn Nelson-Nesset; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Diesman; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members; and countless friends.
In addition to her parents, Barney and Bertina Nesset, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Orville J. Nesset; a daughter, Charlotte Hennigar; a son, Barney Nesset; and three sisters, Teresa, Bernice and Margie.
