Nancy McGill passed away on March 6th 2025. Nancy was born in Butler, PA March 30th 1928 to the late Kenneth and Jane McCandless.
She grew up in Mt. Vernon, NY and attended AB Davis High School. She graduated from Allegheny College with a degree in Business Administration. While at Allegheny College, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. There she also met her future husband, Robert E. McGill of Meadville. They were married in December of 1948 and adopted and raised four children.
Nancy was an exemplar of household management, a dedicated gardener, antique collector, bridge player and reader. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery, and being surrounded by nature. She was married to Robert until his death in February of 1990. They had lived near Poland, Ohio and Hermitage, Pennsylvania before moving to Tionesta where they attended the Presbyterian Church. Nancy lived along the Allegheny River for thirty years before moving to the Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville.
Nancy lived a long, healthy and fruitful life and made many friends. She was a "grand lady" and matriarch of the "McGill Clan".
She is survived by her four children, Ted, Peggy, Susan, and Paul, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She will be remembered and missed by her family but has gone to Glory and is with the Lord.
There will be a private family service.
