Nancy Mengel Obituary
Mrs. Nancy M. (Luckenbill) Mengel, 91, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
Born September 16, 1934, in Kutztown, Nancy was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice L. Luckenbill. She and the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Forrest G. Mengel, were married on September 5, 1959.
Nancy attended Kutztown Area School District. She went on to work at the Kutztown Blouse Factory for 12 years and then after taking care of her children, served as a crossing guard for Kutztown for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, and volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kutztown Fire Company.
Nancy loved caring for others through her volunteering and as a caregiver for friends and neighbors. She truly enjoyed gardening, baking, reading on her kindle, and spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Forrest, are her two daughters, Alice L. (Mengel) Skiro, wife of Paul D. Skiro, Mountain Top, PA, Susan M. (Mengel) Heffner, wife of Mark P. Heffner, Fleetwood, her grandchildren, Connor W. Skiro, husband of Erin A. (Kantner) Skiro, Springfield, PA, Olivia A. Skiro, New York City, NY, Shelbi M. Heffner, fiancée of Joseph L. LoBue, Fleetwood, and Mackenzie T. Heffner, Fleetwood, and by her great-grandson, Graham H. Skiro.
Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Rader and Shirley Williams, and by her brothers, Robert Luckenbill and Ernest Luckenbill.
Services for Nancy will be held privately by her family.
