Nancy Morey Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 14 to Jul. 15, 2025.
Nancy J. Morey, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 4, 1937, Nancy grew up with a deep love for nature and learning. A proud graduate of Iola High School, Class of 1955, she went on to marry the love of her life, Victor Morey, on June 25, 1955 at Our Savior's church in Iola. Together, they shared a beautiful partnership filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion for 61 years until Victor's passing in 2016.

Nancy pursued her passion for teaching and earned her bachelor's degree in education magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. She dedicated many years to shaping young minds as a fourth through sixth grade teacher at Janssen Elementary in Combined locks, remembered fondly by students and colleagues alike for her kindness, dedication, and gentle wisdom.

Nancy had a lifelong love of flowers and gardening. Her home was always surrounded by vibrant blooms, and she took great pride in the gardens she nurtured. Her favorite place to be was on her porch, looking out over her flowers in peaceful reflection.

She and Victor shared a deep love for travel, journeying together across the country and creating a lifetime of memories. In later years, they spent cherished months in Panama City Beach and Branson.

Nancy was also known for her warm, welcoming kitchen. She loved to cook and delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends. One of her proudest accomplishments was building a family cabin on Siskiwit Lake with Victor, a treasured retreat where generations of family had gathered for 42 years.

Above all, Nancy was a devoted and loving mother. She always put her family first and was a constant source of strength, compassion, and care. Her quiet grace, steadfast support, and unconditional love will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and devotion that will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.

Nancy is survived by her children: Vicki (Reuben) Guski, Mark (Cathy) Morey, and Debbie McWhite; grandchildren: Reuben Jr. (Holly) Guski, Sarah Anne (Kevin) McDowell, Laura (Tyler) Jensen, Katie (Brant) Matusiewicz, James Lemieux, John McWhite, and Nancy McWhite; great-grandchildren: Dylan Welty, Brayden, Ethan, and Westin Guski; Lilly and Logan Kromolis, Katlyn, and Kyle McDowell; Abigail and Parker Jensen; and Madelyn and Bennet Matusiewicz; sisters-in-law: Isabelle Thompson and Rosie Gilbert; and her brother-in-law, Allen Morey. Nancy also found solace in time spent with her dearest friend Connie Johnson for many years; playing cards, going to bingo, or simply enjoying each other's company.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Dorothy Kitzmann; her loving husband, Victor; and her brother, Gary Kitzmann.

A Funeral Service for Nancy will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Church, 395 E. Iola St., Iola, WI. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. For online condolences, please visit www.valleyfh.com.
