Nancy Munro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Merced on Dec. 14, 2024.
Nancy Louise Munro – 53 of Atwater, CA., passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Wednesday, December 4th following a brief hard-fought battle with cancer.
Nancy was born on September 15, 1971, in Wyandotte, Michigan to parents Bill and Cheryl Bowers. At the age of 7, she and her family relocated to Grapevine, TX where she would go on to attend & graduate from Grapevine High. During her time there, she studied Ag Science and became a fierce competitor in raising award winning sheep. She truly enjoyed time spent training, showing and auctioning them. In addition to her love for raising sheep, she also became skilled in horticulture and hybrid tree grafting.
After graduating high school, she married and had 3 beautiful children: sons Shane and toby and daughter Cora. Unfortunately, life can be cruel, suffering the greatest heartbreak with the sudden unexpected death of her daughter Cora at just 4 years old. She persevered, pushing through the heartache knowing that she had two young children that still needed her.
They soon moved to Franklin, Tennessee and bought a nice little house where they lived for many years until she and her then husband Greg separated and divorced. Greg gaining custody of the boys through the divorce was especially difficult for her. She took some time and moved to Scottland, with her father's family. She said it was a very beautiful place. She visited castles, went hiking in the highlands and swimming in the North Sea. She spent three years there, doing a bit of soul searching before returning to Grapevine Texas.
Nancy would find love once again, the love of a lifetime, in 2010, when she met Kevin Pruett. The following year they would move to Montana, where she'd always hoped to visit. They would go on to spend 8 wonderful years there, traveling the beautiful countryside, and beautiful cabins, hiking and playing in the snow. But when Kevins mother fell ill, they packed up and moved to California to care for her. Once there, she settled in and began working for Target, where she worked for 6 years. Target was not just the place she worked; her co-workers became a wonderful extended family; they took care of her & her them.
Sadly, following years of being missed diagnosed, she was diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer a few short months ago, in June. She, with Kevin at her side, fought very hard for 6 long months, sadly due to its late diagnosis it was just too advanced and treatments to grueling. Nancy lost that battle at 9:44pm on Wednesday, December 4th.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of Kevin Pruett of Atwater, two sons Shane and Toby of Tennessee, her aunt Jean, and many cousins of West Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Cora, brother Ron, sister Dorothy, Mother Cheryl and Father Bill.
Her legacy, her love of life, was far greater than the few short months that cancer stole. She leaves a legacy of hope and faith, a ray of light shining on everyone she touched.
Viewing and Celebration of her life will be on Tuesday, December 17th, viewing will begin at 1:00pm, the service will follow at 2:00pm.
