Nancy Lou Landers-Oelschlaeger, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and grandparent, was born on November 4, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed peacefully on October 14, 2024, at her cherished home in Crestwood, Kentucky, surrounded by love.
Growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, Nancy was a bright light who attended Turner Grade School and Turner High School. After graduating, she embarked on her career in the credit department at Payless Cashway Feed Co., where her remarkable organizational skills and warm demeanor began to shine.
On February 13, 1971, Nancy married the love of her life, Donald C. Oelschlaeger. Their journey together took them to Long Beach, California, where Nancy flourished as an executive assistant for the president of a prominent company in Century City. Her professionalism and grace left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.
In 1986, Nancy and Don returned to Kansas City, where Nancy took on the role of personal assistant to the owners of the Kansas City Royals and Hoerst-Marion Roussel. Her dedication and passion for her work reflected her deep commitment to supporting those around her, and she became a beloved figure in the local community.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lou and Melba Landers, and her brother, Richard Landers. She leaves behind her husband, Don and their children Kerri Hammons (Craig) and Keith Howard. Their loving grandchildren Tyler Hammons, Brooke Hammons, Austin Tinnell (Taylor) and Jenna Tinnell. Nancy's sister Melba Gerber (Ronnie), Don's brother George Oelschlaeger (Mary), June Doran (Jeff), and Jane Schell (Brent). Nancy and Don have one great grandson, Christopher Hammons. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will forever inspire those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am-2:00 pm with the funeral beginning at 2:00 pm to celebrate Nancy's life at Stoess Funeral Home 6534 West Hwy 22, Crestwood, KY, 40014. on Friday, October 18, 2024, where all who loved her can gather to share memories and honor the beautiful soul she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southeast Christian Church in her name, continuing her legacy of compassion and giving.
In her spare time, Nancy was known for her generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. She cherished moments spent with family and friends, and her laughter and warmth will be profoundly missed.
Nancy Lou Landers-Oelschlaeger will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but, more importantly, for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. She leaves an indelible mark on our hearts, inspiring us to live with the same grace and kindness she exemplified daily.
