Nancy Celeste Parrish Sikes, a cherished homemaker and beloved member of her community, was born on February 17, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas. She departed this life on June 25, 2025, in Woodville, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends.
Nancy was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, having completed her education in the Class of 1951. Throughout her life, she exemplified an independent and spunky spirit. Her faith was strong and steadfast and she always believed firmly in the power of prayer. Her warmth and strong nature were evident to all who knew her, and she found joy in her family and various hobbies including crossword puzzles and embroidery.
A devout member of the Village Creek Church of Christ, Nancy dedicated her time and efforts to nurturing her family and community, creating lasting memories and deep connections. She was happiest when engaged in ongoing projects, often surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Nancy Monroe Hatton and her husband, David of Spurger; sons, Charles F. Monroe and his wife, SueAnn of Winnie, and James W. Hooker and his wife Renee of Houston. Nancy also leaves behind cherished children from her blended family with her late husband, Tillman S. Sikes: Joyce Dalzell, Theresa Morrow, and John Sikes. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Adam Beaugh, Rikki Kemp, Timothy Monroe, Lindsey Gibson, Jennifer Hooker, Jason Monroe, Jeremy Monroe, Marcus Monroe, Eric Monroe, and Allison Monroe, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy's passing leaves a void felt deeply by her very special friends, Don and Lynda Stockton of Wildwood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tillman S. Sikes; her parents, Charles and Vera Parrish; sons, Mark Monroe and Hal Monroe; sisters, Vera Lu Grafford, Martha Cooley, Carolyn Hoppas, and Shirley Parrish; daughter-in-law, Cynthia French Monroe; and great-grandson, Cooper Kemp.
The memory of Nancy Celeste Parrish Sikes will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. The visitation will be held on June 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. As we gather to honor her life, we celebrate a woman who embodied love, strength, and unwavering faith.
