Wichmann Funeral Home - Downtown AppletonNancy R. Paters, 83, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1942, to her parents Lester and Helen (Lockery) Seggelink in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Theodore Paters on September 10, 1971, in Appleton, and he preceded her in death in 2004. She was employed with Copps Foods Store, Oshkosh for 20 years, and then went on to work at McDonald’s, Oshkosh for many years. She was a loving mother, who cherished her family and time spent with good friends. Nancy loved chocolate, watching TV, especially science fiction, mystery, and wild west shows. She had a strong faith in God.
Nancy is survived by her son: Kirby Paters, step-children: Dan (Donna) Paters, Jim Paters, Steve (Tammy) Paters, and Tracy Strong; grandson: Alec Strong; sister: Patricia Sinn; sisters-in-law: Darlene Seggelink and Patricia Seggelink; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was further preceded in death by her step-son: David Paters; a son-in-law: Duane Strong; siblings: Tom Seggelink, Carol Seggelink, Leslie Seggelink, and Sandy Kavanaugh; special grandparents: Henrietta and Ralph Lockery; her cat: Poe; and many in-laws.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30AM, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 9AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manawa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton.
Nancy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Steve and Tammy Paters, the staff at ThedaCare Hospice, and Cherry Meadow’s Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care.
