Nancy Patterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home, Inc. - Anderson on Jan. 12, 2026.
Nancy Lynn Patterson peacefully returned to God on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at the age of 74 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on February 19, 1951 in Anderson, South Carolina, Nancy was one of ten children, born to Roosevelt and Faustine Ellington.

Nancy was a loving mother, wife, and devoted servant to God who never met a stranger who didn't become her friend. She was a beloved friend to many. On August 26, 1972, Nancy married the love of her life, Johnny Patterson. Together they shared, loved and reared one daughter, Veronica Meekins, one grandson, Jonathan Jones, and three god-sons, Timothy Thompson,Tron Davis, and Elijah Crosby.

Nancy attended Spearman High School, and worked at Orian Rug for over 25 years. She was a faithful member at Mount Calvary Interdenominational Church, where she served as an Usher and Sunday school teacher. She believed in helping others as much as she could. She would offer assistance and support to the elderly or anyone in need in the community. Before the passing of her late husband, they were property managers/secretary at Friendship Court Apartments.

Nancy leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memories: daughter, Veronica (Anthony) Meekins, grandson, Jonathan Jones, sister, Annie Lois (Rufus) Jones, brother, Ulysses Ellington; and a host of family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Rayford Ellington, Charles Ellington, Eugene Ellington,
Roosevelt Ellington, and sisters, Katie Blanding and LulaMae White.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2025 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Public viewing Friday from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is receiving friends at 219 Clarke Stream Drive, Anderson, SC.
