Nancy Lee Rasmussen (Shupe), age 83, went home to her final resting place on May 1, 2024. She was lovingly known as "Fancy Nancy." Nancy was born April 15th, 1941, in Green Bay, WI.
Nancy was raised in Berlin, WI by her parents John and Ruth Shupe. In her formative school years, she was active in water skiing, band, baton, and dance. She spent her summers on Silver Lake in Wautoma, WI. She was an accomplished water skier, often being the top of the pyramid in the watershows. Nancy made many lifelong friends there. It was there she met her husband of more than 60 years, Paul Rasmussen.
Paul and Nancy were married on September 3rd, 1960, and moved to Oshkosh, WI, where they raised their 3 children. After graduating from the Oshkosh Beauty School, she started her professional career as a beautician at Jan's Northaire salon. Later, she started her own business "Hair at Home" and worked part time for Joni as a stylist in Boulder Junction, WI for nearly 20 yrs.
Nancy was always a creative person. To feed her creative flair, she country line danced, refinished furniture and started a fabric and stained-glass business in her basement. She passed on her creative flair to her children in many ways. Nancy was an avid reader, and gamer. But her passion was rummage sales. She always knew where the best rummage sales were and would invite her friend Dar or her daughter to join her in the hunt for the best deals.
Nancy loved the north woods. After her marriage, she spent summers and hunting seasons at the cabin on Whitney Lake with family and friends. In March of 2023, Nancy sold her home in Oshkosh and moved to "Her Happy Place," the cabin on Whitney Lake near Boulder Junction. She was so happy. She had new friends and neighbors with whom she became close and started playing cards with her lady friends, going to lunch with her good friend Terry and watching the wildlife on "her lake" with her best fur baby, Zeva.
Nancy is survived by her children; John "Precious" and Sheri (Footit) Rasmussen, Scott Rasmussen, Christie (Rasmussen) Krebs and Mark Krebs, her best companion Zeva, grandchildren: Jayme and Erich Rasmussen, great-grandchildren, Quintin, and Alex Butler.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rasmussen, parents John and Ruth Shupe, sister Jackie Shupe, as well as many close friends, and relatives.
