Nancy Lancaster Rooney

1934 - 2025

Nancy Lancaster Rooney, 91, resident of Greenwood and widow of William Thomas "Bill" Rooney, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born November 9, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Fred Lancaster and Alavenia Belle Lancaster. Nancy was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg Methodist College, and the American Institute of Banking. She loved spending time with her family and her church family and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Nancy was a member of the Mauldin Sunday School Class and the Dement-Waldrop Circle and helped establish the First Baptist Church Widows Group. She was also a member of the Greenwood Women's Club.

She is survived by two sons, William Lance Rooney (Jennifer) of Greenwood and Robert Lee Rooney (Lauri) of Greenwood; grandchildren, William Lance "Will" Rooney, Jr. (Anna Laurel), Josie Anna Rooney, Nathaniel Thomas "Nate" Rooney, Hanna Rooney, Lydia Rooney, and Mary Ella Rooney; and great-grandchildren, Wylder Bearden and Archie Fallaw.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Doris L. Magee, Opal Cannon, Helen Hudgins, and Mildred Lancaster; and one brother, Jimmy Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Uldrick officiating. Private burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Greenwood or the Humane Society of Greenwood.
