Nancy Ellen Schrader (Lane), age 68, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1957, to the late Raymond and Marjorie Lane.

Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Alsip Crook, and son-in-law, Jason Crook of Warwick, MD; and her two beloved grandchildren, McKenna and Hunter Crook, who were the joy of her life.

She is also survived by her siblings: Raymond Lane (Trudie) of Ozark, AL; Betty Shepherd of Bear, DE; Joanne Schramm of Edmond, OK; David Lane (Patricia) of Sarasota, FL; and Edward Lane of Clayton, DE. She leaves behind her longtime companion, Ray Laws of Bear, DE.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marjorie Lane, and her brother, Thomas Lane.

A graduate of Christiana High School, Class of 1975, Nancy began her career at Beneficial Banking, later serving many years as a store manager at Arby's in Dover and Chestertown. Most recently, she worked at Middletown Walmart, where her dedication and work ethic were admired by her coworkers and customers alike.

Nancy had an unwavering love for her family, friends, and animals. She was known for her constant smile, quick wit, and ability to make others laugh with her humor and personality. Always selfless, Nancy put the needs of others before her own. She also had a passion for cooking, preparing meals as if feeding an army. Her specialties-chicken and dumplings and homemade mashed potatoes-were family favorites that will be fondly remembered for years to come.

In addition to her family and work, Nancy cherished the time she spent with her companion, Ray. Together, they enjoyed listening to live music performed by their friend Tim at Bakers Restaurant, and attending local car shows, sharing many happy memories within their community.

Her legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and devotion. Nancy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warm heart and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10 to 11 AM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City, Maryland.
