James David Schrader, known affectionately as David by his loved ones, passed away due to natural causes on August 17, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. Born on December 10, 1954, in Kerrville, Texas, to the late Bill and Betty Schrader, David's vibrant spirit and infectious humor touched the lives of many throughout his 70 years.
David was a graduate of San Angelo Central High School, Class of 1973, where he formed lifelong friendships. He spent several years with GTE - General Telephone & Electronics Corporation, where his intelligence and spirited nature came through in his work. Later, David channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into owning a successful telecommunications business, where his innovative ideas and dedication to service were highly valued by clients and colleagues alike.
As a Christian, David's faith was a cornerstone of his life and inspired those around him. He was known for his ability to lift spirits with his humor and to captivate any room with his many stories. David's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He cherished the summers of his youth spent on the family ranch in Boerne, Texas, where he developed a love for the outdoors, music, and the simple joys of ranch life.
David found joy on the back of motorcycles and horses. His hands were rarely still. He enjoyed restoring and tinkering with project cars, building and improving at his home, and taking on just about any project that needed doing.
David held a special place in his heart for the Guadalupe River and Uncle Otto's, where he spent countless hours fishing and creating memories with family and friends. His storytelling was legendary, with the ability to weave tales that entertained and enlightened, often leaving listeners in stitches from laughter.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sheri Schrader; his son, Austin Schrader and granddaughter, Camdyn Schrader; his daughter, Ashley Schrader; his brother, Gary Schrader and late wife Sissy Schrader; and his sisters, Ann Sykes and husband Steve, Sue Balcom and husband Stuart, and Laurie Schrader Buhler and late husband David Buhler. He was a cherished uncle to multiple nephews and nieces and held a special place in the hearts of his extended family and friends.
In remembrance of David's life, his family wishes to acknowledge the joy and wisdom he brought into the world. His funny, intelligent, and spirited essence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy will live on through the stories he leaves behind and the countless lives he enriched with his presence. David's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering zest for adventure. He will be fondly remembered as a beacon of light and a source of joy, a man who truly made the world a brighter place for all who knew him. In his own words, "Love ya, See ya later, Bye".
