Nancy Lynn Schweigel, 74, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023. She was born on January 24, 1949, in North Tonawanda, New York to Walter and Shirley (Gandt) Baker. She was a beloved wife of 50 years to Peter, a loving mother to Karl (Kara) and Keri (Clay), and a doting grandmother to Haley, Max, and Brooke. She was also a loving sister to Carol, Barbara, Wally, and Robby (deceased).
Nancy was a caregiver at heart – she worked as a chef for the Johnson County Nursing Center and then later became their activities director, instituting The Eden Alternative Program. Later in life, she became a paraprofessional working one-on-one with special needs children. She was passionate about cooking, always looking to feed a crowd.
Nancy will be remembered for her quick wit, generous heart, and loving nature. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Penwell-Gabel's Olathe Chapel. The family, and any friends who would like to, will share words about Nancy beginning at 6:00 p.m.
To honor Nancy's love for animals, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to Great Plains SPCA, in lieu of flowers.
