Seamon, Nancy Ann
April 23, 1934 - August 13, 2025
Nancy Ann Seamon, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born April 23, 1934, to Alice (Andrews) Ellis and Andrew Ellis, Nancy's life was one long masterclass in style, service, and social panache. She married her college sweetheart, Ronald Francis Seamon, on January 7, 1955; he predeceases her. Together again, we trust he's now been instructed to set the table and chill the champagne.
Nancy's three children and four grandchildren survive her:
Cinda Seamon, Hilton Head Island, SC, Scott Seamon (Michele),
Saginaw, MI, Shelley Seamon Meeder (David) Bluffton, SC
Riley Dawson (Nick) Atlanta, GA, Andrew Seamon,
Saginaw, MI, Kelly Wood (Alex) Charleston, SC, and Rachel Carter (Collin) Charleston, SC
Nancy was a force of nature in every community she touched-both in
Saginaw, MI, and while living on Hilton Head Island, SC. Her résumé of service reads like a small-town "Who's Who" with a side of "She Did WHAT?" Junior League member, symphony and civic boards, hospital volunteer, drama director, club member, restaurant co-owner, cookbook co-author, and tireless bridge player. And that was just her warm-up round.
On Hilton Head, she founded the local Junior League chapter, reviewed restaurants for the Island Packet (no chef dared overcook a scallop on her watch), directed Boys & Girls Club productions for eight years, and earned Volunteer of the Year honors three times. She also joined golf and tennis clubs-and to the mild annoyance of her opponents, turned out to be very good at both.
Nancy's gift for hospitality was legendary. She could throw a dinner party that made Martha Stewart look like an amateur-often with a celebrity or two in the guest mix. Over the years, she hosted Paul Lynde, Leslie Nielsen, Spanky McFarland, Curly Neal of the Harlem Globetrotters, Arnold Palmer, Dionne Warwick, and Bob Seger. Rumor has it that more than one star left wondering why they couldn't just move in.
She was also an author, penning the children's book Ashley's Gift and co-authoring Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Garlic, a cookbook that perfectly captured her philosophy: recipes should be seasoned liberally with wit, warmth, and maybe just a little mischief.
Above all, Nancy loved her family-especially her grandchildren, who were the true centerpiece of her life. They often emailed and called her for advice-especially on love-and Nancy always delivered, with wisdom that was honest, heartfelt, and occasionally a little sassy. She cheered their milestones, bragged shamelessly, and made sure they knew that life should always include good food, good company, and good stories.
Per Nancy's wishes, her life will be celebrated at a private family gathering. In her honor, raise a glass of something bubbly, host someone you love for dinner, and never underestimate the power of a well-set table.
