Nancy L. Smithson

Nancy L. Smithson, age 71, a longtime resident of Lake Bluff, Illinois passed away on February 24, 2022.
She was the beloved wife of 50 years to Bill Smithson and proudly raised a family and became a grandmother. She was the loving mother of Melissa L. (Jason) Wingo and Rodger P. (Erika Ranallo) Smithson; cherished grandmother of Shirley L. Wingo and Rocco J. Smithson; sister of Robert (Gaye), Douglas, Michael, and the late Charles Kozel; daughter of the late Richard and Mary Kozel, and daughter-in-law of the late Frank and Shirley Smithson. A great friend to her many cousins and their families, a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews. And finally, best friends with Cindy, Claudia, Kathy, MaryJo, Pam, and Marie.
Nancy loved to throw parties. Known as the "cake lady" of Lake Bluff, Nancy was always busy arranging, organizing, decorating, and throwing parties for all occasions, especially Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, the Academy Awards, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and assorted birthdays. She loved going to concerts and was the lead singer in several rock bands. She loved to travel, which included our various ski trips and train trips, but especially our trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and her trips with her best friends to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held at a future date to be determined.
