Nancy Mae Strand

Nancy Mae Strand, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 9th, 2026. Born on August 6th,1941 to parents John Wilson McLemore Sr. and Ruth Mildred McLemore in Oklahoma, Nancy was the eldest of 5 siblings. Nancy was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, wife, and grandmother to her family. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband John Strand and leaves behind her children Jymme-Lyn Ahl (Vanessa), Toni Young (Mark), Kelley Wright, Denise Strand, Chris Strand (Jaime), Michael Strand, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and countless friends who enjoyed her endless laughter and love of reading and gardening.

After graduating from East Bakersfield High School Nancy joined Pacific Bell telephone company, first as a Telephone Operator and eventually moved up to Supervisor. After leaving Pacific Bell she joined Getty Oil of Kern County, CA and was able to retire to spend more time with her family. Nancy's passion for travel and the outdoors resulted in many trips to the California coast, South Dakota, Washington State, Arizona, Oregon and especially Hawaii with her daughters Jymme-Lyn and Toni. Celebration of life for our mother will be held at a future date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you please plant something in your garden in her memory.
