Nancy Lee Strange formerly Nancy Sabo, 72, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Born December 29, 1952, in Bellaire, Ohio, Nancy was the daughter of the late Forrest and Helen Strange.
Nancy was unapologetically “Strange” in the best possible way—stubborn, strong-willed, and fiercely devoted to the people she loved, especially her grandchildren. She studied at Youngstown State University and the University of Dayton and carried the lessons she learned into every classroom and home she entered. She taught for a time in Australia, an experience she cherished and often shared with family and friends. She spent her career as a teacher and social worker, always ready to help those who needed it most, throughout the Ohio Valley.
Nancy followed the weather closely and was the first to let everyone know when storms were approaching. In her quieter moments, Nancy enjoyed playing cards, staying informed through the news, and spending time with the people who mattered most to her. She was a little sister to some, a Mom to others, Great Aunt Nancy, and Grandma Strange.
Nancy is survived by her sisters, Beverly DelFratte and Melody Strange Province. Beloved children, Tiffanie (Ryan) Scripture, Luke (Stephanie) Sabo; and her cherished grandchildren, Cameron Hallack, Sam Scripture, Skylar Scripture, Logan Sabo, and Lance Sabo. A beautiful extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews—too many to count, but every single one loved deeply by their Aunt Nancy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Strange; her sister, Edna Krajci; and her sister, Shirley Yobe.
Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her gentle spirit and the love she poured into her family and community.
Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
