Nancy "Jane" Strohmeyer of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on August 16, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri with her friend by her side.
Jane was born on January 7, 1945, in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Lynn and Hilda Lita (Rethman) Strohmeyer. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School and High School in Seneca, graduating in 1963. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Mount St. Scholastica College in 1967.
Jane had a lifelong love of literature and often composed poems for her friends, sharing her gift with those she cared about.
She spent her professional career in the insurance industry in Kansas City, where she continued to reside after retiring. Jane found great joy and companionship in her beloved cats-Pistol, Button, Roxy, and Gracie-over the years.
Jane treasured time spent with longtime friends. Together, they enjoyed a film festival group, regular lunch outings, birthday celebrations, and many other gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilda on November 30, 1976 and Lynn on January 16, 1992.
She is survived by her older brother, Jerry (Patricia) of Wamego, Kansas, and her younger brother, Jim (Laurel) of California.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Baileyville, Kansas.

My condolences to Jane's family and friends. It seems we are never truly prepared to lose someone we care about but having family and friends close by helps. We were class mates and I always found Jane an easy person to talk too and share things with. Sending prayers and hugs to all who mourn her passing, may God bless each of you! Rita Ronnebaum
