Nancy Carol Parrish Troha passed away November 23, 2025 at the age of 80. She was born February 12, 1945 to the late Walter H. Parrish and Sarah Sharpe Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Troha; daughter, Terrie Girard; son, Troy Troha; granddaughter, Ashley Troha; grandson, Chad Atkins; four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Joe) Harrison, Timothy C. Troha, Angela Troha-Williams and Timothy G. (Tammy) Troha; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, her companion, Ranger and a host of nieces and nephews.
Nancy was known for her culinary delights; her peas, macaroni salad, and the beloved peas and cornbread brought everyone to the table, while her lemon supreme cake and rum cake were always the stars of the dessert spread. These meals were more than just food; they were expressions of her love, bringing together family members in a symphony of flavors and cherished company.
With a personality that could light up the room, Nancy was a spunky spitfire, full of opinions and no shortage of kindness. Every person who entered her home left with a piece of her — whether it was one of her lovingly prepared canned goods or a plant that she nurtured with care. Her spirit of giving was boundless, and her zest for life was contagious, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
In addition to her role as a mother and grandmother, affectionately known as Maw Maw, Nancy had a passion for the thrill of the hunt, finding joy in yard sales and thrift stores. Her love for "junking" and "thrifting" was matched only by her enthusiasm for rearranging her furniture, always keeping her family on their toes, never letting them know how the living room might look when they returned home.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 28, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor John Winters officiating at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home in Selma.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Bain Henderson, Tyler Dumas, Kale Troha, Reid Dumas, Casey Troha, Quinton Mackiewicz and Nick Troha.
Though she has taken her final step into eternity, we’re fairly certain Nancy is already in heaven surveying the place and deciding what needs to be rearranged. Her loving spirit will continue to shine through the hearts of her family and friends, leaving a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a love that never diminishes.
