Nancy Allean Turner

Nancy Allean Turner entered eternal rest on May 3, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  She was born on June 22, 1933, in Peoria, Illinois.  She was a devoted mother of five children and a cherished member of her family and community.
 
Nancy's life journey was marked by dedication and care. She initially embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom, prioritizing her children's well-being until they were in high school and college. Subsequently, she found joy and purpose working as a manager at Sam's Restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska before eventually returning back to Wyoming. Later in life, Nancy spent 18 years as a swing shift cashier at the Little America coffee shop where she brightened the days of customers with her warm smile and welcoming spirit.
 
Beyond her professional endeavors, Nancy was known for her creative talents and culinary skills. She had a passion for crafting with resin and would handcraft beautiful items such as table lamps, light switch plates, coffee table/end table tops and wall decoration of Butterflies, Sea Horses & Fish and created masterful flower arrangements for her family.  She loved playing board games and croquet with her kids. Nancy loved bowling and was in bowling leagues for many years.  Her homemade canned dill pickles were renowned amongst family and friends. Nancy's love for cooking shone especially bright during the holidays when she would prepare an array of delectable treats ranging from cookies, breads, pastries, candies, pies and ice cream. She believed in the importance of balanced meals and cherished family dinners together.
 
Educated at Saint Mary's High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Nancy valued lifelong learning and also enjoyed reading books, daily reflections, and the Bible in her leisure time. Her favorite teacher at Saint Mary’s was her aunt, Sister Christine, who instilled in her, her strong faith, dedication to family and commitment to others.  Her proudest accomplishments included raising five children, being a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Webelos, taking treats to the Boy Scouts, her volunteer work at church where she dedicated herself to various tasks from organizing bingo events to baking treats for special occasions.
 
She is preceded in death by parents; F.Kermit (Dorothy) Turner of California, Frances Turner of Cheyenne, and son Patrick Gross.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by her surviving family members: Brothers:  Ross (Viviana) Turner & David (Faye) Turner of California. Children: James Jr (Maryellyn) Gross, Robert (Beverly) Gross, Michael (Lynn) Gross, & Susan (Ross) Gensel all of Cheyenne.  Grandchildren: Melissa (Zach) Parr, Vanessa Hayes, Ralph III (Jenny) Hayes, John Misplay, Cody (Michelle) Misplay, Jamie Gross, Aften (Andre) Stewart, Allison Hayes, Avelyn Hayes, Rowen Hayes, Jenni (Travis) Hill, & John Couture. And Great-grandchildren; Braden Burrows, Grayson Burrows, Camilla Parr, Lian Parr, Bella Parr, Caden Misplay, Corrine Misplay, Michael Gross, Nichole Gross, Jayden Stewart, Aiden Stewart, Raebecca Couture, & Maddison Couture.  
 
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Nancy Allean Turner's life will take place at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home located at 2222 Russell Avenue in Cheyenne on June 21st at 2:00 PM followed by a reception starting at 3:00 PM.
