Nancy Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leatherwood Memorial Chapels - Brady on May 30, 2025.
Nancy Nell Turner, age 96, of Paige, Texas and formerly of Melvin, Texas, passed away Wednesday evening, May 28, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Nancy was born on July 7, 1928, in Nolanville, Texas to Elmer David Sutton and Ettie Overa Nancy (Cox) Sutton. She was one of seven children. She grew up in Melvin and graduated from Melvin High School. She married Edward Houstin Turner on April 18, 1947, in Brady. She worked briefly as a hairdresser. She was quite the seamstress, making clothes for her family, and some of the neighborhood kids, as they grew up. She loved to laugh and watch birds, but what she loved most was her grandkids. When school was over for the summer, her grandkids would stay with her and her husband for a few weeks. It was the time of her life. She was also active in her community. She volunteered at the local Food Truck for The Hungry in Paige and taught Sunday School. She was very active in her church, the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige. One of her favorite things to do was go to church and go to Bible Study. She was devastated when her husband passed away. She mourned his passing until the day she died.
Graveside services for Nancy Turner will be held at 1:30pm, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Melvin Cemetery in Melvin with Reverend Gary Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Friends may view and/or sign Nancy Turner's online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com. Pallbearers will be Brad, Travis, Kevin, James, Dwayne and John.

Thinking of our beautiful Miss Nell, our neighbor and my dear sister in Christ. I can feel her beautiful radiance as I compose this heartfelt note. She´s now rejoicing in Heaven with our Jesus. Hallelujah! Miss Nell was for many years the greeter at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige, TX. This is where we met. I´d pick her up to go to ladies Bible study every Wednesday. She loved her family dearly, was an amazing cook and artist. She´s united now with her beloved Edgar. Thank you dear God for bringing Nell into my life. Our sincere condolences to her precious family and many friends. Love, Mike and Peggy Reeser
