Nancy Dee Vap, 58, of Prairie View, Kansas passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident in Phillips County, Kansas.
Nancy was born at Travis Air Force Base in California to John and Diane (Rogers) Vap.
They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and then to Atwood, KS in 1973. She graduated from Atwood High School in 1985. Nancy enrolled in Baker University where she was active in Phi Mu Sorority, school choirs and was known as the ‘Wildcat’ at football games. She graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. In 1991, she became a mother to Alexandria. Nancy worked at a variety of jobs including retail, insurance and most recently as a medical transcriptionist.
Nancy married Larry Tien in May 2017, relocating to Prairie View, Kansas. There, she assisted Larry with farm operations and cared for a variety of animals. She kept busy being a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and helping her friends when needed. Nancy also made homemade potions (lotions) to sell at craft fairs. She loved all things Halloween and spending time at the Sunflower Inn at Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Larry Tien; her father, John Vap; her daughter, Alexandria Walker; her granddaughter, Ilyana Walker; her sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Sean Walsh; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Diane Vap.
