Nancy M. Vernava

Nancy M. (DeFelice) Vernava, age 63, of Swampscott, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Encompass Health in Woburn after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert "Bobby" Vernava. Nancy attended Swampscott schools grade k-10 and was a graduate of Lynnfield High School, class of 1978, as well as Marion Court College. She grew up in Swampscott. She had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her adult life before moving to Swampscott seven years ago.
Nancy had worked for Essex Neurological Associates in Peabody. She loved her work, as well as spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing solitaire, and was a great cook. She also enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with family and friends. She also loved flowers and gardens, especially her rose bushes. She loved children, and any children who met her were immediately drawn to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of them.
In addition to her husband, Bobby, she is survived by her children; Allen Monteith, Amanda M. Monteith, and Melissa R. Basanisi and her significant other, Mitch Perez, all of Lynn; her step-daughter Ashley (Basanisi) Smith, her husband timothy and their daughter Lilian; seven granddaughters; Niya, Hazel, Kaliah, Kiara, Serena, Aaliyah, and Milani; her siblings; Frank DeFelice of Lynn, Jimmy DeFelice of Somerville, Janet DeFelice of Salem, Tommy DeFelice of CA, and Mary Jane DeFelice of Arizona; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louie and Tony DeFelice and step-mother of the late Michael Basanisi, Jr.
Her memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 4-8PM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
