Nancy Jane Walters, age 76; passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2023. She spent her final days surrounded by her family and loved ones. Nancy was born December 4, 1946 in Holland, MI to her loving parents, Nelson and Gertrude Nagelkerk; Beloved wife of Alvern Walters; loving mother of Christopher (Kristen) Meyers; stepmother of Shelley (Ron) Worley, Lana Walters and Scott Walters; cherished grandmother of Andrew Irvine, Alex Meyers, Katie Meyers, Chris (Katerina) Worley, and Paige (Andrew) McCarty; dear great-grandmother of Alivia, Dakoda, and Sadie; loyal sister of Tom Nagelkerk, Joan Geerlings, and the late Jack (Mick) Nagelkerk, sister-in law to Rose (Sid) Scheerhorn and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Nancy will be extremely missed. She was a devoted wife and extremely loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was born and raised in the Dutch community of Holland, Michigan and was a strong Christian. Nancy and Al moved to Oak Trace in Downers Grove, Il in 2020 to spend her final years with her grandchildren and Chris and Kristen. Nancy worked as an accountant for more than 30 years before retiring. She loved gardening, travel, dogs, shopping, exercise and more than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Memorial Visitation, Saturday, May 20th, 2:00 PM until time of Memorial Service 3:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 South Grant St. Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer's Association; Alz.org are appreciated. For information 630-323-0275 or www.sullivanfuneralhomehinsdale.com
